Getting Drum Endorsements

Easy Drumming That Sounds Hard

In this free drum lesson, Jared Falk shares some insights into what’s required to get drumming endorsements and discusses what your mind set should be in regards to this subject. At the end of the video, Jared signs an actual endorsement deal with Paiste Cymbals.

An endorsement deal is an official affiliation that’s set between you and a company, where you behave as a spokesperson for their products in exchange for discounts, free drum gear, and/or help with your career in music. Ideally, you should be using their products for some time before you decide to ask for an endorsement deal. It’s not a good idea to do so if you don’t actually like a company’s products. It will make it a lot harder for you to really get behind their products, promote them, and even use them – things can go sour quite easily this way.

Don’t think of an endorsement deal as a way for you to make a living from and get free drum gear. These deals should be based on the enjoyment you take from using a company’s products, and the trust they have on your musicianship and on your ability and level of exposure to get their products exposed to the general public.

If you’d like to get more information on some of the companies Jared endorses, as well as their full range of products, check the websites for Paiste Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, Pro-Mark Drumsticks and Snorgtees T-Shirt Co..

Due to Jared’s affiliation with these companies, you can expect to see some product giveaways and contests on DrumLessons.com in the near future. Once you’ve watched this video, we encourage you to check the free drum lesson “Auxiliary Drumstick Choice” for a look on some of the cool auxiliary drum sticks choices that you can use for getting different sounds out of your drum set.

  • acoustic guitar learn play says:

of course like your web site but you need to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very bothersome to tell the reality nevertheless I’ll certainly come again again.

Haha I love go pumped you are lol. I’ve been trying for an endorsement for maybe a year now. I’ve been specifically trying for an Evans drum head endorsement as I use Evans on all of my drums both reso and batter so I’ve been aiming for that bt I think I need mOre audience lol. I only have 7,565 views on my YouTube channel so idt that’s enough but I’ve really been trying. Any tips on how to get more views and popularity?

  • Vany says:

Sorry you lost, I tuhhgot you deserved it. I compare my homemade sewing projects to yours and think “I’m such an amateur!” It is kinda funny to me that you are even nervous. I guess there is always going to be someone out there that is better. It gives you people to look up to I suppose. You are my “look up to person” so hopefully that helps the sting a little bit.

  • Nick says:

    To dawid,

I guess there are no age and Country requirements for endorsements. It will be extremely conflicting and bias and it is like saying, “Hey, you can’t be endorsed by us because you are an American and we are a Turkish cymbal company.” He did not mention anything about age however but you must have an audience of people who watch you drumming via videos or clinics or what not. An example of a young endorsee is Igor Falecki; he is endorsed by Sabian cymbals from what I heard, and he is only of 9-years-old. Another and better example is Thomas Pridgen as he got his endorsement with Zildjian cymbals at a young age too.

So it is all about the audience and who watches you. If you had no audience, a company will NOT endorse you.

I hope you find this helpful.

Han Bennink is one of the only masciul geniuses I can think of who would happily use cheese as a primary instrument, and make it sound brilliant, too. Pat Metheny is a superb musician, but I can’t see him playing a guitar made out of cheese. Wynton Marsalis is never going to play a cheese trumpet. Or even a cucumber trumpet. Just goes to show that free improvisation separates the men from the boys.

  • Tim says:

Give the guy some credit boys obviously he is pumped on the endorsement, you dont see a video for all of the ones he has so obviously it was info on how to. His drum lessons tell you more insight on how to get the skills to gather the audience. I never new you even could get one without being a famous artist, so i thank you Jared now i have more enthusiasm to gather a crowd weather on youtube or in my home town, etc. Since i dont have the money for these awesome cymbals, heads, hardware or any other equipment thanks for the effort jared

  • Matt says:

  • K. Mark Allen says:

Hey Jared,I was just wondering if you are from Utah? Not that thats bad!

  • William says:

I agree with Mark. This video was just a way to announce/show off a Paiste endorsement…

  • casey rebel says:

I like your T-shirts. I always want to see what T-shirt you’re wearing on each lesson. I’m checking out Snorgtees T-shirt Co. now.

    • Mert says:

i play metal, all the time, that is aacutlly my favorite style and may i say this rocks ass with it, just get gel pads and some nice heads and you will never be disappointed

  • Mark Levy says:

    Jared,
I feel that this video was more about you sharing that you received an endorsement than giving any useful information to others on how to actually go about getting their own endorsements (which you even admitted towards the end of your video).
I understand you are pleased with your new endorsement, but I don’t see how this helps your viewers.

  • paul danso says:

want to be more like the best drummer ever!

    • Babacar says:

if you get the toms off the bass and put emad 2 and emad reso on it with a kcipkort in the emad reso, the resulting sound is sweet. I have had my gretsch 6 piece kit for 3.5 years and love it. i put ec2 sst coateds w/ ec reso on the toms, hazy 300 and ec reverse dot on the snare. recording studios love it, other drummers lust after it.

  • Dean McGaveston says:

Jared – I’ve always been a Paiste fan, since I first bought my first drum kit (40+ years ago). When I bought my latest double bass kit (REMO Discovery Series 8-piece) I invested in new cymbals, buying 13/14 Paiste 602 series recording cymbals – lovely in all respects and by using them in recording, the recording studio owner actually replaced his Zildjian cymbals with Paiste because he liked the “hissss” when recorded! I wrote to Paiste saying who I was, how many I had, the layout and they kindly sent me a new catalogue, a breast pin for my jacket/T-shirt, and something lese trivial with a question “Who the “hell” are you?”. I wasn’t impressed, was not impressed at all. Still love the hardware though.
