Learn How To Play Sixteenth Note Triplet Drum Beats!

Now we are going to go over some beats based on sixteenth note triplets. These beats are based on partial triplets with the bass and snare. Remember the count for sixteenth note triplets is "one trip let and trip let, two trip let and trip let, etc". The use of partial triplets is going to make counting these exercises a little more difficult, so make sure that you have your counting skills down before moving on to these beats. If you find yourself getting out of the count, just come back and watch the video to get the timing. After a little practice, you'll pick it up in no time.

In exercise 1, beats one and two introduce a common sixteenth note triplet beat that will show back up in exercises two and five as well as many other pieces of music that you may hear.

Exercises 3 takes that basic beat from the first two exercises and adds an additional bass drum note to it.

Exercises 4 is one of the easiest to count, because two complete beats of the bar are complete sixteenth note triplets.
