Learn How To Play Single Pedal Drum Beats For Beginners!

Now we are going to make real use of what we have learned so far and expand on the bass drum doubles lesson. We are going to start off with a number of single bass beats. I am going to demonstrate these with my stronger foot, but it is important to note that you can also practice with your weaker foot. You can follow along with the provided sheet music as I play the examples, then later take it to your kit.

Beats 1-3 will build you up from one sixteenth note triplet bass drum pattern per measure, to four per pattern.

Beats 4-5 will continue your practice of four sixteenth note triplet bass drum patterns per measure and introduce a few of the possible variations of the pattern.

Beats 6-7 really step things up, containing 6 and 8 sixteenth note triplet bass drum patterns, respectively. These will really provide great practice for your control over the bass drum pedal.

Beats 8-9 contain fewer of these patterns to provide some variety and give your foot a little bit of a rest.

Beat 10 really steps up the pace, featuring a full measure of these sixteenth note triplet patterns.
