Now we are going to work on the bass pedal a little more, working on independence. You can turn to the bass drum doubles page now, or download the provided sheet music. The double part of the bass drum doubles are going to be a partial sixteenth note triplet on beat three. The exercises will gradually work in double with more frequency, to give you time to get used to the pattern. Listen closely to my playing on the video and you shouldn't have a problem.
Exercise 1 starts off the bar with a single bass pattern and finishes with with a double on the bass
Exercise 2 plays the same pattern from the second half of exercise one twice, giving your foot a little more exercise that before
Exercise 3 picks up the pace a little in its second half, with two bass drum doubles in that half. The first half remains simple to give your foot a rest as it gets acclimated to the doubles pattern.
Exercise 4 takes steps it up a notch from the third one, having two bass drum doubles in each half.
Exercise 5 is a real test of your foot strength and coordination, It features eight bass drum doubles throughout the bar.
