In this lesson, we are going to be playing some tom tom beats of a more complex nature than those in previous lessons. The lesson will be similar to the intermediate tom beats section, with the extra complexity provided by using more complex note values. These examples will be a little bit difficult at first, but once you get them down, they sound great.
Examples 1, 3, and 5 mix various note values, including thirty-secondth notes and sixteenth notes.
Examples 2, and 4 make use of sixteenth note triplets to vary the complexity of the beat. Make sure to remember the count for sixteenth note triplets: one trip let and trip let, two trip let and trip let, etc.
