Let's take a look at the 7/8 time signature. It is one of my favorite time signatures. It is another very popular one. Today we are going to look at both beats and fills in the time signature. Counting is pretty straightforward, but be careful. The word seven is a two syllable word, so if you say it like you normally would you will throw your rhythm off. Either say 'sev' or say seven really quickly to keep the cadence the same as with the other counts.
Exercises 1 and 2 start off with some relatively simple eighth note bass and snare patterns.
Exercises 4 to 6 throw some sixteenth notes in the mix to vary things up a little bit.
Exercises 7 and 8 consist of one bar of a simple eighth note beat, followed by a snare that makes use of the snare and toms.
