double bass (again!)
17 December 2012 - 04:53 PM
I'm worried that I'm not practicing my double bass efficiently. I'm getting back into it after about 4 months, and I just go between having good days and bad days where I can hardly play at all. It's incredibly frustrating, even more so because I need to improve within about a month for a show.
So, can anybody give me any practicing tips or specific exercises/warmups to do? I know that there's no magic word that'll help me improve, and the best advice is to practice. I'm perfectly willing to practice for as long as it takes, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right and getting the most out of the hour or so I have a day.
I really appreciate any help with this

Audio Intefaces
30 October 2012 - 04:20 PM
Anyone here familiar with the Firepod shown at 2:05?
what jumps out at me is the fact that he's using two of them connected so that he gets more inputs, which is what I'll need to do since I have a big kit. can anyone recommend any other interfaces that can do this? and is it just as simple as plugging them into a dual adapter? -
Trying to record..
16 October 2012 - 03:03 PM
Hey guys!
i tried to record today just for the hell of it, and it didn't go so well
i have a Phonic Powerpod 410, and I'm running a Shure Sm58 vocal mic and a Phonic DM680 vocal mic into the first 2 channels. The Shure has an XLR connection, the Phonic has a 1/4 inch connection. I ran that into my Macbook using a 1/4 to 1/8 cable. i was planning on using Garage Band, but the computer won't register my mics, and i have no clue how to make them show up in Garage Band.
anyone know what I'm doing wrong?!
(note: i realize running two vocal mics into a vocal PA will not get me the best sound, I'm doing this just to get used to it) -

Soundcaster Fusion splash vs. Byzance Brilliant splash
26 August 2012 - 09:24 AM
I'm torn between these two splashes! I want something versatile enough that will hold up and project when i hit hard, but also sensitive to softer grooves. From what I've read the Soundcaster fulfills the first job, and the Byzance the second. can you guys recommend the one that'll do both well enough? It's gonna be my only splash for a while. Going for the 10 inch size btw. Thanks!
