That's pretty interesting! What would you say it helped you with? Btw Berklee is my dream school, just trying to figure out how to deal with the tuition hahahaha
  2. In Topic: What is the time signature of this piece?

    02 January 2013 - 07:51 PM

i count it as 4 bars of 7/8 plus the downbeat of the next measure. technically you could count 7/4 but 7/8 makes more sense to me

Usually just around 45 seconds to 2 minutes. Not a lot of time. Realy as lng as you think you need per BPM and as for the time I spend on the entire exercise, usualy about 30-45 minutes, But, I've went as long as 2 hours and as short as 10 minutes.

Good stuff, thanks a bunch man!

Do what I do... 2 bars of:

    quarter notes
8th notes (alternating between each foot; RRRRRRRRLLLLLLLL[x2])
    8th notes triplets
16th notes (either 2 bars or as long as you feel you need to.

Once done, set the bpm of your metronome 5 bpm higher and repeat. I can do nearly 230bpm with this exercise and I started off sucking at 150bpm. It works. ;)

sounds legit! how long do you spend on one BPM before moving up? and how long do you do the whole exercise for?
