All right, guys (and gals)!

It's been a while, but I've posted another drum cover. This one's "Jacob's Ladder" from Rush's Exit... Stage Left release.

I'll be writing a complete article at my web site (TheParadiddler.com) soon with all the details as far as what decisions I made regarding takes (multiple vs. one - this one was recorded in one take), 'mistakes' I decided to leave in and why, the live version vs. the studio version, etc.

In the meantime, enjoy! Of course, if YouTube ends up blocking it, that would not be cool!

Thanks Vic!

Mike is somewhat of an inspiration to me, so hopefully he'll get to see it as well and tell me what he thinks. I'll be seeing Rush in Atlanta at the end of September - can't wait. I predict they'll play "Jacob's Ladder" for the Clockwork Angels tour next year. One can hope!

Ok guys, the promised article:

Drum Cover - "Jacob's Ladder" by Rush, Exit... Stage Left

I go over some of the details behind the recording, and hopefully you can glean something that can help you when you record. In the end, in any case, it was a blast. Always fun to play Rush songs. :)

Till next time!

Hi everyone.

About time I post another drum cover! This one is "Double Agent", a Rush song off of their 1993 Counterparts release. This is one of my all-time favorite Rush songs. I've added a little twist to the instrumental middle part, that Rush fans are sure to recognize. I'll be writing a drum cover article soon detailing, well, the details, behind the making of this cover. In the meantime, enjoy!

Hey guys (and gals!).

The drum cover article detailing the "Double Agent" cover has now been posted at my site. I explain why I covered the song the way that I did, plus a few decisions I made regarding recording that I hadn't done before.

Drum Cover - Rush, "Double Agent"

You'll see there's more to it than just the song. Till the next cover!

Hey everyone. Happy drumming!

I've just posted my latest video, which is an update as to the gear I'm currently using. I've injected a little humor into it, and it shows me assembling the kit in fast-motion, identifying each piece as it's assembled.

I'll include the YouTube video here, but if you don't see the bubble messages, or if they're too small, you may need to view the video in YouTube. In any case, have fun! Hope you like it.

Hey guys.

I've just recorded another drum cover. It's Paramore's "That's What You Get", the unplugged version. The purpose of the cover was two-fold: one, so I can experiment with a different room, drum setup, lighting, recording, and the like - and two, because my wife requested this song, so I was happy to oblige! B)

I've written a supporting article detailing the 'behind the scenes', as it were.

Drum Cover - Paramore, "That's What You Get"

Comments welcome, here and there. Enjoy!

Hey guys.

I've posted a new drum cover of one of my favorite songs:

Rush, "The Analog Kid"

I will be writing an accompanying article soon detailing everything I went through to get this recorded. In the meantime, I hope you like it!

Hey guys.

I've posted the follow-up article to my latest drum cover:

Drum Cover - Rush, "The Analog Kid"

I talk about some of the problems I encountered when recording, some experimentation with new hardware and software, an 'artistic' liberty I took, and why I select the songs I cover. Hopefully you'll get some ideas for your own covers (even if it's what not to do). I hope you like it!

Whoa, I just realized it's been forever since I've posted here! Shame, shame. B)

I recently went off the deep end and tried to cover someone way beyond my abilities - Phil Collins, from the 'classic' Genesis era.

There's more in the video than just drumming, so I've written an article explaining how (and when) I got into Genesis, and a little about the making of the video:

Drum Cover - Genesis, "Dancing With the Moonlit Knight/The Musical Box" Medley

I hope you enjoy it!

And here we go again!

Here's my latest drum cover, a rock classic - "Parasite", by Kiss. Kiss was my favorite band at one time (a long time ago) - they could do no wrong. They definitely did no wrong with this song, because it rocks.

Of course, I can't leave well enough alone, so I've written the corresponding article with some interesting tidbits behind the cover, including an embarrassing little singing episode long ago:

As always, I hope you enjoy!

Awesome! Are you still using the noise reduction sticks?

I asked Lazaro about how would they work for transmitting vibration from my electronic drum rack down into the floor and into my neighbor's apartment. My bet is they only work for the sound that's transmitted through air as I can hit my ekit's hihat with my pinky and still feel the vibration on the structure of the rack.
