OR = overrated factor
r = fan reputation in percent, 0-100% (how many of the fans think he's the best drummer in the world)
g = gimmicks used
E = equipment needed to perform
P = playing ability, rated in a scale of 0-10
pr = personal reputation, based on opinions of people who are not a fan of him, 0-100
V = variety of drumming performed
s = speed on kit in bpm, the fastest he can play clean 16th
eg = ego in a scale rated 0-100

I think the formula is ready for publishing!

Sir. I do believe that you are a genius. Pure genius. Now what do we need to do to get this made official?

Well, I see you've already begun! :lol:

Also, if you want to see how good a drummer actually is, flip the equation and remove the crowd/fan factors:

This is getting good. Way to go Dalleh/Poco! To think a thread about whether guy like Tommy Lee is overrated or not could inspire something like this is proof that life is very unpredictable.

different styles/genres of music he has performed with, were 15 is the maximum number:
one genre = 0 (0variety)
two genres = 1 (little variety)
ten genres = 9 (good variety)
>16 = 15 (effing variable!)

EDIT: KEV!

It's gettin' kinda geeky in here... I heard Tommy Lee was geek as kid so I guess it's appropriate.

lol, im gonna try to calculate his overrated-ness. lets see. . . .

r = 75
g = 2
E = not sure what to put here so 7, he normally plays a 7 pc.
P = in his style. 10.
pr = ill give him the benefit of the doubt, 50
V = 1, i guess. never seen him play anything else.
s = not sure so ill go with 210bpm, it probably a little more
eg = 90, lol

So, based on my calculations. Tommy Lees OR=21.5.

Note: these numbers are based off of my knowledge and opinions of TL.

His V is at least a 4 Rock, Metal, Blues, Techno/House/Trance. V should not be allowed to be 0.

So, Portnoy, Pert, Buddy Rich, Bonham, Moon, would get the same knock down in the formula?

How is rock, metal, techno/house/trance, and blues the same genre? Is it the same on guitar? Would Randy Rhoads get a zero for combining scales and playing with Ozzy and Quiet Riot? Would Malmsteen?

If I have you confused with a gifted guitar player on this website I apologize in advance. Username just rings a guitar bell.

The pure fact that this thread got so much attention makes Mr Lee a significant figure in drumming. Check the famous drummers section, who's picture is there and in the forefront?

Formula needs a jealousy component for this website.

When did I say rock, metal, techno/house/trance is only one genre?
Where do you get the guitar from?
Malmsteen would get a variety 0 though.

Your own post "But one genre = zero variety, dontchathink?"

Malmsteen a Zero? Nuff said, thread fails very miserably?
