For what Tommy Lee does, no he's not overrated. Take away the visuals and put on Dr. Feelgood or the self-titled album with Jon Corabi, and you hear a solid player who does a great job at serving the song while giving the impression that "holy $%#&, that dude hits hard." He really gets to open up on the Corabi record, more than he used to. A couple of fills and solo breaks he did, I was really impressed.

I doubt Tommy even rates his playing as high as his fans do. But I'm speculating there.

He has a project where he's taking recordings from other players sent via Internet to put up an album together. He and his fellow musicians listen to it and then decide whether to put ANY instrument up or not.

Yeah, not a fan of that approach since he didn't pay any of those people. Still a fan of his drumming, though.

And there goes the principles. Did he gave them ANYTHING in return other than money? It could be contacts in the industry, knowledge, etc.

He credited them in the album notes; that's it.

Tommy Lee is one of my favorite drummers. Technically hes not as good as neil peart or joey jordison, but tommy lee has something 90% of todays best drummers dont have...character. Most drummers lose their character as they gain speed and can do crazy things. You will never find a drummer like tommy lee. IMO hes amazing.

Sorry, but Tommy Lee may have a lot of things, but character isn't one of them.

If you can let a porno flick of you and your wife be made public, character is one attribute you are seriously lacking.

Playing a concert in a diaper doesn't help either.

Yep, just look at yourself. You're doing to scotch what you're criticizing him for doing to Tommy Lee.

On other news, why is this thread still relevant?

It's like a cycle. Unless someone breaks it it will keep going forever. Breaking the cycle mans breaking the pattern that generates it. If from your perspective scotch is a hater then don't hate him or crush him for that or you will feed that what bothers you about him, both inside you and for him to do. When you are criticizing him for being the way he's being because it bothers you you're doing exactly the same thing and are actually encouraging him to do more of the same. Fighting fire with fire it burns down the entire forest.
It's a neverending story where both parties subconsciously feed off each other short comings. It's like modern war, it makes no sense and it never ends.

You're grasping at straws at this point... Let's get back to the topic of "Tommy Lee Appreciation":

Tommy Lee can win a game of Connect Four in three moves.
Tommy Lee can slam a revolving door.
Tommy Lee can dry clothes underwater.
Tommy Lee simply walks into Mordor.

I don't think this Tommy Lee guy is overrated because I don't know him...
