Yes, two actually...but with regards to this poll, I got the Pearl Reference (pics coming) in Crystal Rain...

Instead of the Starclassic, I have the Superstar Hyper-drive in Dark Desert Burst as well (which I will probably end up selling)

So thanks to all who responded...cheers

Those two kits are actually two of the kits that I have my eyes on. Not those finishes, but those lines. I'm jealous... ;)

Congrats, man!

When in doubt, buy both!
. You'll never know if you like it until you pull down your pants and take a slide on the ice.

Funny how that happens...I actually got the Tama at a good price and love the birch sound and have a second tom on order, but the Pearl came some time later at a smoking good deal that was hard to pass up so now I have both... ;)
I haven't got a bad thing to say about either kit Dealas...the Tama is a great intermediate kit but doesn't compare with the Pearl Reference which is a pro level kit without question. If I ever get good enough to go gigging, I'd use the Tama's and keep the Pearl's at home...those sucker's are HEAVY!! (20 ply snare)

Cheers

Of course the Reference is a superior kit, I still haven't decided if I want to go all the way with my next kit, or keep it at a semi-pro level. And the Hyperdrives seem awesome.

tama bubinga is actually fairly heavy too. How come pearl reference is always compared to bubinga. personally, I think the tama SC maple sounds pretty darn awesome too.

Must be because the Bubinga is an exotic wood like the Reference's African mahogany wood...both have wonderful deep sounds!

I agree, SC maple has great sound as well!
