Ei Jared
This idea of yours propelled me to register in the forum. So this is my first post.
Let me just start by saying a big thank you for this website. I have said this to you via e-mail, but i will say it again, it was with you guys that i started to to play drums and to read drum notation, which nowadays I'm very comfortable with, not just at reading, but at righting as well. I can not thank you enough
As for your proposal, I have some ideas for drum lessons.
The first one would be about hi-hat foot splash. You could do some beats with it or teaching some exercises and giving us some tips for us to become more comfortable with it.
Another idea that I have for a drum lesson would be about closed rolls and drags. I can't find enough information on the internet that shows us how to do them, they just show them. So it would be cool to see how to hold the drum sticks, what technique to use, how many strokes per hand...etc.
How about some hip-hop drum lessons? Drum n' bass? Reggae?
Well I think that is all....FOR NOW!!! MUAHAHAHA :]
hope everything's cool with ya!
peace bro

I've never been interested in stealing another drummer's chops, but it's always cool to understand how and why a drummer does something interesting.

Yup, you're right, just read the Moeller method DVD overview, and it reads:
Quote
# Applications for using the Finger Control Technique around the drum set (excellent for coming up with unique drum beat and fill ideas). Great for speed drumming and faster solos.
# Mike's blazing fast "Flurry Fills" based on Finger Control
Ahaha :] I forgot about the editing possibility.
Take care

I can read OK, but tabbing and playing by ear would be an awesome addition for me. IDK if it can be taught. I must be a 'tard. I can never seem to pick up what is being played. Was that an open hi hat or a crash? Was it a rack tom or floor tom? What's the kick drum doing (it often seems masked by the bass line)? For me its like a foreign language. I can read Spanish pretty well. Write it? No way in hell.

I've been experimenting with this and find the sounds you can get out of the snare drum amazing.

Lol the only problems I have is the base drum and lining everything up. If I pay attention to the bass I lose track of when to hit something else. I agree it must be mostly self taught but anything can progress faster if given help by people that can already do it.
EDIT: and I forgot about those toms. They always get me
