There should be someting in this topic rules about international shipping...
What if the giver has to specify in the ad if he`s willing to ship internationaly?

I think shipping estimates should be calculated by the interested parties. When someone donates an item for free, don't make them do all the leg work. Maybe they can provide an estimate on weight and size to ship in their OP, but after that, they should be off the hook. The rest of us can go to UPS, USPS, FedEx, or whatever and look up the costs just as easily as they can. The difference is, we each only have to do it once, but if they have 20 members interested, we're asking them to do it 20 times.

Just an FYI guys..USPS has a flat rate shipping to anywhere in the US..I think it is around 10 bucks..They have boxes at the post office marked Flat Rate. As long as the items fit in the box. .Hope this helps.
The post office will even pick up from your own home..And the most reasonable shipping rates ..Especially when weight and larger items are concerned.

Fed Ex is usually the most expensive..Unless you can use a corporate account somehow.

Welcome to the FDL "Good Karma" topic. Members can contribute items they no longer want and/or need. Keep in mind these might not be of the highest quality, nor be in the best condition (read well used).

Here's how it works:
  • Members who have an item or items to give away post pictures, descriptions, etc. in this topic. Only one item per post, unless the items are designed to work together (like a cowbell with mount).
  • Members who are interested in the "advertised" item, state their interest in the topic.
  • After the item is "advertised" for one week, a moderator will do a random "drawing" from those members who have expressed interest for it.
  • A moderator will award the item in a posting.
  • Delivery of the item will be handled through PM's or e-mails between the original poster and the winner. The only expense allowed is for shipping, which is paid by the winner of the donated item(s).

If you contribute, or express interest in an item, please be prepared to follow through with communication and prompt shipping. If you express interest in an item, be also prepared, and able, to pay for shipping. FDL takes no responsibility for the quality or fitness of any offered item, nor for any payments.
Please help make this idea a success. Make all transactions smooth and clean. Get some good Karma!

LOL probably this started from my topic I made about getting a free cowbell !! see what i started!! a good thing!

You are correct... I got the idea to suggest this to FDL admins after I saw your post, it's actually something from a watch collectors forum I belong to, where the members give away unwanted watches, watch bands, cases, tools etc, it works pretty well there so I figured why not give it a shot here....

Yes.
Guidelines in th OP have been updated to include this. Contributors should make a reasonable estimate of the gross shipping weight, size and provide their zip code so interested members can estimate the shipping to them.

Websites are one of the things I do for a living, but this isn't the place for that , if you're serious PM me and we can discuss it.

give out your zip code to help people determine shipping prices, for those submitting items.

if i did it correctly, the splash will cost me $21 in shipping. don't count me in though.
