Drum Gear Buyers Guide - Various Instructors

This is probably the most useful non-instructional DVD out there for beginning and intermediate drummers. Not only does it hold essential information for any serious drummer; it gives it out in layman's terms.
Call me a freak, but I actually enjoy watching this DVD. I really like how everything's held in a Q & A / conversation between Mike Michalkow and Schroeder, and how they both take you through the different sections in the drum dept. Plus, they don't ramble off into highly technical info, so it's all clear and concise.
What I think gives this DVD its real value is the fact that it gives anyone who watches it a very good starting point on gear info, and it definitely gives you the basic understanding (and more) you need to go into a shop and have a chat with the Drum Dept Rep.
Massive props.

This was originally part of another review I did. I copied it here.
Mike and Schroeder walk through a music store, pull things off the wall and discuss their uses, sounds and applications. First comes drums and accessories (with recommendations for things you should have in your gig bag and for common maintenance) Next are drumsticks (sizes, styles, materials, includes brushes, mallets, and rods) On to drum heads (styles and their sound attributes for snares, bass, and toms - single ply, double ply, coated, clear, dampened, etc.) They also show how to help decide which ones may be best for you while you are looking at them in the store. Finally they move to the cymbal rack. They show and describe cymbal styles, materials and manuf. techniques.
If you're new to drumming and drum gear, this DVD will give you a leg up so you know what to consider, look for, and how to talk about it with your local drum shop.

Hello all!
I purchased this DVD, and I think it's a great reference. I wrote a comprehensive review at my web site, which you can read here:

For the price, I think it's a great deal, but you can decide that for yourself! Happy reading.

I have purchased this dvd awhile back and it has alot of info for the beginner but it lacks time spent on the drums, selections and type of material used which to me is the one of the most important part for the first time buyer.. Overall good dvd.
