This assumes you are on a PC. You can exit the DVD lessons, then go to "My Computer" and right click on the drive with the disk. Use the "Explore" option to view files. Or, before you insert the disk, change your auto-start options so the disk doesn't automatically begin to play. Once the disk is in the computer it will ask you what action you want to take. Again, select "View files using Explorer" (or something like that).
. There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Thanks a lot ! It worked

You learned me a new pc fonction.

Btw, the on-screen contents appear on the
second Beginner Dvd...

The first one is just the visual aspect and
slow-motion feature !

I better get back to my rudiments !

Now That I know how the DVD works
I can say that this is a great tool. I was like,
many of you I'm pretty sure, ''I don't have
inspiration for composing beats and even
less for FILLS !''

Now having the opportunity to learn 40
sticking combinations (as well for the feets)
is a new way to approach creation and
to analyse what those drummers are
doing in their videos !

I've been working trough it for 3 days now and
there is a difference. I haven't worked it
on the drum set as much as I'm learning
on my pad watching the System and Mr
Duperron making funny faces (you made me
smile while hitting my pad Lionel ! the comparison
about working a sticking and learning a sonnet is
killer !)

Obviously there is things that annoy me as well,
First the beat played as a loop in the main menu
is so annoying ! I mean you're back from a lesson
and trying to work your way on the pad and the
beat just don't stop unless you press mute on the
remote. And there is the multi angle of the pad lesson
which show you 3 angles, the main one is alright but
the 2 others seems so far from the camera which makes
it harder to see what's going on in the grip.

In the end There is so much inspiration and understanding to
acquire in this tape. Are you ready to break the blinding wall
of ignorance ?

I've been working with the system for a few months now and I've got to say... I'm still overwhelmed by the amount of information in this system! I've noticed a huge leap foreward in my playing and I find my practice sessions are much more productive. This system has been a great way to get more creative and to set more realistic goals. I never really appreciated how true it was when people told me that rudiments are the language of drumming, but I finally understanding it for myself.

As a new drummer, I can't think of a quicker way to become proficient on the kit and have more fun when jamming!

I was seriously thinking buying this system, but after reading several posts about it NOT having a printed workbook, I've decided to get another system first - I just assumed that a $100 system would come with some printed material - that's a lot of paper to print out! I'd suggest that you start including a printed workbook with DRS in the near future- this is the only thing keeping me from buying it ( unless you come down on the price ) I'm glad I read this thread.

I just got mine last week. It only cost $5.21 USD for the books to be printed and spiral bound with plastic covers. :) I can also make individual worksheets as needed. I would like the .pdf files for the other systems I own... (hint, hint) :P

Most print shops are set up for this kind of thing. Try Kinkos, or your favorite.

just got this product 4 my bday. So far i think it's a very cool system. I highly recommend to any drummer out there. I especially love the slow motion and how u can see every stroke. Lionel and the FDL team did a fantastic job. 10 out of 10, 2 thumbs way up, KNARLY.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. The wife and I were on a little Holiday in NYC. I went to the FedEx Kinko's (now FedEx Office) near home. They have full print services (not just shipping).

Today a started looking through the DVDs, but there is still this something of information that I miss..
It's just about how to practice the rudiments and how to bring them to speed, I mean there could be more details...
Furthermore some explanations are not completely clear as far as I watched them, sometimes Lionel explains something but then acts it out in a different way, it's hard to explain.
Just when I do the stuff explained I'm not quite sure if I'm doing it right and I also don't know "how" to do it, meaning for how long, how often (just once that I know it, or every day?), should I always practice the rudiments, even if I'm already a bit like Thomas Lang?... those are some questions that remain unacknowledged as far as I recognized.

However that's just my first two cents, I mean, I haven't gone all the way through ;D, I'm just trying to give some constructive feedback!

All in all the package seems great to me for just creating a serious practice routine!

Cheers

I received my DRS last week and I just love it. I started learning late in life and had a little over a year of drum set lessons. This system fills the gap of things for me to do when I get a bit bored of the "basics" and etudes that I'm doing. I spend about 1/2 hour a day reviewing certain rudiments and always go back to the video as a reference. I then get to show/ask my instructor anything about them if I'm having difficulties. I like to think that I have my personal instructor, Jared, Lionel, and Mike. All the information, both online and on the DVD, is done really well. My abilities have improved and I'm having fun doing it. Isn't that what's it's really all about?

Thanks.

PS. I hope the move went well.

Great DVD. If y'all look to improve the product for a future DRS release, it would be nice to have each rudiment as it's own chapter to improve navigation.

In the DVD, we're told to work on the sticking first. Okay, cool, I got that (I think). I can get the basic pattern of the rudiment, but I don't understand how I should count while doing the rudiment. I'm getting thrown off, hardcore. Do I even need to know how to count through the rudiment as it's fairly easy to just speed up or slow down the rudiment based on the context?

If I do need to learn how to count through it, and the DS covers it, I've not gotten that far or was day dreaming when it was mentioned. So for an example, the five stroke has 16th note triplets before the and of 1  . How do I count that (again, only if I have to learn how to count through it).

Most of the feedback seems pretty in favour of the system. I know the rudiments fairly well...ish, and I've watched them demonstrated in the FreeLessons where they're not just played on the snare. In the system, are there further examples of taking each rudiment around the kit? Like, several variations of what you could do with each of them? I think that would be my main incentive for purchasing it as I am already a fairly avid rudiment-practiser (well...it's too cold to go out and socialise nowadays...)
I know the pieces fit'cause I watched them fall away.

On the site there are a few beginner examples of each rudiment applied to the kit. In the Drum Rudiment System he demonstrates each rudiment in over 15 variations using beats, and fills....

Blimey! I think it sounds to be a sensible buy for me then, as the biggest problem I have is using rudiments in different contexts - I never know where to start! Thanks a lot for your help :-D

Lionel Duperron is a beast when it comes to rudiments. The DRS goes way beyond the basic exercises on this website and it is a fairly comprehensive pack on how to use each rudiment in different situations.
