I purchased this pack during the initial launch, because I have always needed help with my rudiments.

I must say, although I haven't worked all the way thru it, I love the way Lionel explains everything (he definitely knows his rudiments). I also love the slow motion video, so I can really see what the fingers and hands are doing.

Another good point is when Lionel takes the different rudiments to the kit. It really opened my eyes to what I was hearing in certain songs. Here I thought I was hearing some great fill, but all it really was was a simple rudiment!

The only thing this video pack leaves me wanting more of is a little more time on the way the rudiment is played. What I mean by this is I felt like each rudiment was touched on and explained, but I still felt like I needed a little bit more on certain ones.

Overall, I highly recommend this pack to anyone at any level of drumming. I have found it invaluable in learning my rudiments.

We all need to practice rudiments. I don't mind practicing them, but they are repetitious by nature. Seeing them used in beats and fills makes them more interesting and also lets you see how these building blocks are used in real-world applications. The slow motion is great for analyzing technique. This is the "biggest" of the Systems with about 160 pages of exercises. In fact my only criticism is you have to print all those pages and keep them colllated, or view all lessons on-screen. I wish it had a workbook.

Lionel covers a lot of ground. If you want to improve your rudiments, DRS will show you the proper way to play them and make practicing them more interesting. With DRS, Moeller, BDS and RDS, any drummer can have a complete, solid, well rounded foundation for their drumming career.

This lesson pack is the one I've used most out of all my lesson packs. I go to this all the time when I just don't want to practice songs or just want to sit in a chair and hit the drum pad.

My only issue with this pack, was when I first got it I was a complete beginner. It did seem like you should know how to hit the drum properly and you should know how to do a buzz and bounce roll. I did figure the concepts out by slowing down the slowed down version of these rudiments. Now I have my drumming knowledge up a bit this is truly my most used training aid.

loved it *.*, and didn't went half of the begginer section yet, but I hope one day to finish it =D, but I just loved the way the cams were set up and the way he explains, it just simplifys everything.

I like Lionel's approach. I'm working on the first rudiment - the four stroke roll. After watching some of the videos I am now able to hear various rudiments played in songs. The key to getting the rudiment is starting way slow with a metronome. If I play too fast too soon, then my timing goes off and I play uneven. Not good.
Counting out loud also really helps!

I ordered mine last weekend (express delivery) and expect it to arrive just in time for the weekend. All of the positive feedback I've seen in this thread and watching Lionel in the free online lessons are what prompted me to take the plunge. I'm very much looking forward to this lesson pack and I expect this will keep me busy until I'm able to get a kit later this year!

Great! Thanks so much for your order. The package is perfect for drummers who don't even have a kit as a lot of the instruction is on a practice pad. Please post your review once you get it. You should have been emailed a shipping confirmation...did you get that?

Sure did Jared! I've been tracking it since I placed the order! :) Thanks for asking!

I figured this pack would be perfect for me. I played drums for a few years when I was a kid, took a few lessons, played in a band for a year or two and with my high school band. Left my drums behind when I joined the military at 19 and haven't had a pair of sticks in my hands since. After recently deciding to get back into drumming I found your site and found out just how little I really knew about the art. ESPECIALLY the rudiments. I recall learning about 4 of the 40.........and not very well. :D I'll be glad to post my thoughts once it's arrived and I've had a chance to beat away on my pad! B)

As expected I rec'd the pack this afternoon! :)

Quick question. What is the practice pad/stand combination that Lionel is using in the video?

Oops! Never mind. :) I see it's a Vic Firth.

Ok, been practicing for a few days now and I'm having a lot of fun with this DVD set. Still working in the beginner sections and can now do my old nemesis the paradiddle reasonably well. ;) I recall I could never quite get the hang of it when I was a kid and basically gave up on that rudiment. Also picked up the double sided Vic Firth practice pad and it's REALLY nice! I first got the Remo pad but I like this one much better.

I know one side (gray) is for "quiet" practice and the hard/black side is allegedly for a "workout." Disregarding the noise level (which is negligible or either side) is one side better than the other for practicing?
