I must say, although I haven't worked all the way thru it, I love the way Lionel explains everything (he definitely knows his rudiments). I also love the slow motion video, so I can really see what the fingers and hands are doing.
Another good point is when Lionel takes the different rudiments to the kit. It really opened my eyes to what I was hearing in certain songs. Here I thought I was hearing some great fill, but all it really was was a simple rudiment!
The only thing this video pack leaves me wanting more of is a little more time on the way the rudiment is played. What I mean by this is I felt like each rudiment was touched on and explained, but I still felt like I needed a little bit more on certain ones.
Overall, I highly recommend this pack to anyone at any level of drumming. I have found it invaluable in learning my rudiments.

Lionel covers a lot of ground. If you want to improve your rudiments, DRS will show you the proper way to play them and make practicing them more interesting. With DRS, Moeller, BDS and RDS, any drummer can have a complete, solid, well rounded foundation for their drumming career.

My only issue with this pack, was when I first got it I was a complete beginner. It did seem like you should know how to hit the drum properly and you should know how to do a buzz and bounce roll. I did figure the concepts out by slowing down the slowed down version of these rudiments. Now I have my drumming knowledge up a bit this is truly my most used training aid.

I love music, it burns so bright within us, it kinda scares me sometimes.

Great! Thanks so much for your order. The package is perfect for drummers who don't even have a kit as a lot of the instruction is on a practice pad. Please post your review once you get it. You should have been emailed a shipping confirmation...did you get that?

Sure did Jared! I've been tracking it since I placed the order!
I figured this pack would be perfect for me. I played drums for a few years when I was a kid, took a few lessons, played in a band for a year or two and with my high school band. Left my drums behind when I joined the military at 19 and haven't had a pair of sticks in my hands since. After recently deciding to get back into drumming I found your site and found out just how little I really knew about the art. ESPECIALLY the rudiments. I recall learning about 4 of the 40.........and not very well.

Quick question. What is the practice pad/stand combination that Lionel is using in the video?
Oops! Never mind.

Ok, been practicing for a few days now and I'm having a lot of fun with this DVD set. Still working in the beginner sections and can now do my old nemesis the paradiddle reasonably well.
I know one side (gray) is for "quiet" practice and the hard/black side is allegedly for a "workout." Disregarding the noise level (which is negligible or either side) is one side better than the other for practicing?
