Hey, Jared. I was wondering, do you use a mixer or an audio interface to record your drumming? And can you name the one you use? I want to start recording my drums for covers when I get the chance, and I'm always worried that I'm going to grab a mixer that doesn't have the inputs and such that I'd need. I looked through your lesson on drum recording, like what mics you use, but the audio interface is what I'm really interested in. TY.

Their mics are ran through a mixer, not an interface. As to the name/model of the mixer, I do not know. Just by the looks of it, it could be a Mackie.

Hey man, we just use a simple 24 channel Mackie mixer and run all the mics through Logic Pro on our Mac. Victor does a lot of tweaking to make them sound like they do but that's the basic setup. These lessons should help you: http://www.drumlesso...ecording-drums/

Freedrumlessons.com versus drumlessons.com

Hi Jared!!!

When I started with my drum lessons (It took me about a month to find this site after getting my drums) I found the freedrumlessons website. From there I found these forums and then I found a newly formatted site called drumlessons.com

What are your plans about these two sites?

I can definitively see the value in each as they have different lessons.

Which do you recommend I do first?
I've been working exclusively off of freedrumlessons but would really appreciate your feedback as a professor on this matter.

Thank You.

Hey man... The difference between the two sites is that FreeDrumLessons.com was our first iteration of putting together a site like this. Those lessons are a little more cheesy and not as high of quality. The new DrumLessons.com has all of our highest quality videos and newest lessons. We decided to switch over as we also run GuitarLessons.com and PianoLessons.com. We were unable to obtain the "free" versions domain names so we just dropped the "free" and changed to the shorter names.

I think both sites are really good, but DrumLessons.com is the better site in my opinion. This is the site we will continually update and maintain. Hope that helps.

I thought it was strange that there are still lessons at the old site that are not available on the new one. Low quality or not, some people who started on this site might be missing out on some good stuff...

Thats why I asked. I think I'll use them in parallel depending on my needs.
