Is it possible to find the model number, serial number, and the manufacturing year of a drumset/drum if all you have is the drumset/drum? I have a pearl export series kit, but I can't find that information anywhere on it. I got it used a while ago so I suspect it to be fairly old.

The model and serial number are usually on the badges on the drums.
. You'll never know if you like it until you pull down your pants and take a slide on the ice.

Your talking about the little sticker-like thing on the drum right?
I looked but all it says is Pearl then underneath it it says export series. Thats it.

Hmmm...sounds like Pearl doesn't serialize the Exports then.

They should.........
But if they truly don't, depending on Pearl's logos and such, you may be able to estimate what year your export is from. With my old Ludwig set, I was able to determine that it was from the early 80's because of the Ludwig logo on the drums and the color that the inner part of the shells were painted. I have no idea how Pearl has done their logos or what may be specific about their exports or even what has changed over time. But if you suspect they're old, they probably are, and there are ways of figuring how old the set may be.
You might want to find a means of contacting the company and see what they reccomend doing.
Good luck,
Kat

When was the last time you saw fifty guitar or piano players come together and jam in a warm, supportive atmosphere? Never? Drummers do it every day. That's the power of the drum.

Nick, you may be looking at the badge (on the outer part of the shell). On the inside of the shell, there should be a serial number. But maybe I'm wrong.

I looked through my head to see and the only place that it might be that I can't see would be on the piece of plastic where the rod connecting it to the bass drum goes through.
The pedal that I think came with it (it's what I got when I bought it used atleast) is an old school one. It doesn't have any rubber on it at all. I don't know if that helps or not.
Is it possible that it is pre-serial number maybe? I've heard of those, but is there a pre-model number also?
What about the year it was manufactured? Any guess on that or where to find it? I'll call them sometime this week and ask, but if you guys happened to know then that would be great.
If anybody has found any of this information on a pearl export then please tell me where you found it.

I'll check on my school's Pearl Forum and see if I can find a serial number.
