Oh wow. I just noticed. I found this post checkin' the last click thing to see what people were posting in, and a guest was viewing this thread. I didn't even look to see when it was last replied to. I assumed it was recent if someone was viewing it... Eh.

Wow, i saw this topic and thought wow this should be interesting.
Reading through it i saw my username, i didnt realized it was that old of a thread and i posted in it!

Im three years older, Played alot of music, got offered lots of beer(im 19), cigarettes, weed, never taking any of it. I have lots of friends who are straight edge, but also christian. Im christian as well, but not straight edge. The bible says drinking ISNT a sin. Getting drunk is. So when i turn 21 if i have a beer to celebrate i wont feel guilty. Most straight edge guys are always very serious. I never am

I have respect for the guys who are straight edge, and anyones religious beliefs.

I don't smoke cigarettes. After watching a grandmother die of lung cancer I never will. I think it's gross.

I don't do drugs, although I think weed should be legalized and taxed/regulated by the government.

As for drinking, I'm Irish. And in Canada the underage laws are more lax than in the USA.

I am not straightedge. Personally I feel that I am responsible enough to drink or toke without going off the edge and doing something stupid. I don't get drunk or high often though, and never before a gig. I think straightedge is great, just that I'm not into it. I like to drink or toke socially for fun when I an relaxing.

Small amounts of alcohol are good for your heart and also can help prevent strokes. There is a theory of Marijuana helping to cure cancer (and having known someone you used cannabis oil to treat his cancer and survived I'm inclined to agree with this theory).

Those two little facts alone prevent me from being straight edge, before even considering that I like the taste of alcohol.

I've been on the wagon for 11 years, not a drop or puff. I hang with the Wharf Rat's/ dead head's and the Phellowship/ Phish. I spent my first 15 year's playing drum's professionally/ stoned drunk exc, and the last 11 straight. I will tell you, this way IS the way. I show up. I can think, more apt to spent 100% of practice time doing just that, so on exc.
