I've noticed a fair few posts about the board talking about the drinking habits of some of you guys out there but I was just wondering if anyone aside from me engages in the straightedge lifestyle and whether you do or don't, your opinions of it.

For those of you who aren't aware of the term 'Straight Edge' it pretty much refers to leading a lifestyle abstaining from drugs and alcohol. There is of course certain people who think it involves much more than that and avoid things such as caffeine, medicinal drugs and even sex for non-reproductive purposes.

I don't live to that extent, I just avoid the grog and I never have or intend to do drugs.

I do not do drugs, rarely drink alcohol & quit smoking cigs. 3 years ago. I guess coffee & food are my only vices. <_< I do not eat nearly as healthy as I should & that can be as bad as any drug or other illicit "habit". Being sedentary is also near as detrimental.

I've done more than my share of all of the above. At this point, I drink beer - only. I think straightedge is commendable but my personal philosophy is, "everything in moderatation". I agree with DR - exercise is just as important, as far as healthy living goes.

That is my philosophy as well when it comes to such things. Although I may drink a little more than I should, but hey, I'm young...

My worst addiction to date would honestly be World of Warcraft....I would give up smoking in a heartbeat for that game.... <_<

I do not lead a straight edge life style at all really, mainly because I live by philosophies such as "You can sleep it off when you're dead" and 'Live life, no one gets out alive".

But having said that, I don't have to drink to have fun. In just enjoy it.

I do get a lot of exercise though. I suppose that the reason I can live like I do is because I do make an effort to stay healthy in some respects. And the fact that I am only 19.

I've done my share in the past of both drugs and alcohol. I don't do drugs anymore (haven't for nearly a decade) and I still enjoy the occasional beer. I never drink hard liquor.

This one's tough to explain because I would hate for any youngins to use me as an example for their own lifestyle, but I absolutely don't regret my choices in the past. I was never an addict, but I did try quite a few different things just to experience them. I don't regret it because I never got too carried away and my life has panned out well. The way I figure it is I only live once, might as well experience as much as I can - this goes with everything (drugs, alcohol, hobbies, crazy stuff like skydiving, streaking... you name it <_<) I've finally settled down

I don't do drugs, and the extent of my alcohol drinking is the occasional mixed drink w/ some hard liquor in it. Never been drunk and don't plan to. The other portion of your post, I don't drink caffeine (medically cannot), and I'm married (will leave that one there) with no kids.

Yes, I seem to have a freakish metabolism. <_< I really don't mind it though. :P

I order a family-size pizza just for myself. And it better come with breadsticks...

I figure I'm gonna have some serious food problems when I'm 20 or so.

I'm the same, I eat quite a lot but I'm really quite slim. It's really good for now, but I know eventually it will change.

Ouch, reminds me a little of Aleister Crowley, But I find it dumb that Marijuana is iligall and cigaretts aren't. Cigarettes are so much worse for you.

I have very little sympathy with people who get lost in a world of hard drugs, especially with all the warnings there are about them. I mean, by all means try them if you want, but know their risks and know that if you get hooked there is no one to blame other than yourself.
