US, Virginia
Started percussion in 6th grade and got my first set in 7th. Played all the way until i was about 22 and lived in apartments for a while. Have been going strong for the past 3 years though. (I'm 29 now)
Mostly self taught on the kit. Learned all of my rudiments in school though.
I played bass a little in high school and am now trying to pick up piano.

Okay..so..

I'm from England, More specifically A small Town called Tamworth in the Midlands.
Have been playing...for about 7-8 months now, so still learning pretty much everything. =D
I'm self taught though occasionally receive advice from the drum guy at School when I'm practising alone.
And, nope I don't play any other instruments really. I dabbled in guitar and gave up when I realised it was annoying.

I am from Staines, England and have been playing for about 11 months. I am self taught on the drums. I used to play the cornet but now play the horn in the Salvation Army band. I also had guitar lessons when i was a lot younger but realised i had no hope. I also play the keyboard - mainly creating riffs to use in songs.

Wow this is a popular thread! Thats good! I myself am from BC Canada, and have been playing the drums for around 7 years of my life. I have taken a few spot lessons here and there but never anything constant. I also play the guitar, bass, and yes... the Accordion! However most of my time is spent focusing on the drums.

I´ve always had a special love for the accordion... but I´ve never played it decently.

I'm from BC, Canada

I've been (seriously) drumming for about 12 years or so, but my parents bought me my first drum set when I was 3 or 4.... yeah.... I stabbed it to death with all my friends :D ..... at the time I didn't know any better...

I've taken a few odd lessons here or there but pretty much self taught.

I've played piano for.... wellll since I was 7 ..... soooooo 20 yrs
played guitar for 10 years and bass for about 8

I also enjoy singing, Virgo's, long walks in the sand, and drinking pina colada's and getting caught in the rain...

The accordion is the most rewarding instrument a man can learn!

1. Where are you from (country, or more specific)? Stockton, CA
2. How long have you been playing the drums? 25 years
3. Did you take lessons, or are you self-taught? self-taught, then took lessons at 22!!
4. Do you play any other instruments (which ones)? Drums mostly...but chords on Guitar and simple bass. I can tune in the radio...I"m an old buck who still fumbles with the knobs.

By the way, I took lessons from three teachers. Brian McCarthy - Metal Head who plays all styles. Mike Lawson from Skip's Music in Sacramento (now works for Johnny Rabb I believe) and a cat out of Jacksonville, Fl named Pete Chemiekewski (he knew all styles Rock, Latin, Blues, Jazz - and recorded with Wynton Marsalis a few times).

I still need lots of practice because I haven't hit the skins in over 5 years on a regular basis.

I'm from Ontario, Canada.

I use to play drums about 26years ago, just getting back into it. I still have the basic knowledge, hopefully with Jared's rock drumming lessons, my skills will improve. I'm also learning to play side drum in a Scottish Pipes and drum marching band. I have also jammed with some friends on the bass guitar. I really want to focus on my drumming. I am planning on the self taught method.

I'm currently living in Western Australia. I grew up in New Zealand and started playing when I was about 6. I moved to London when I was 21 to break into the big time but never quite made it.
I had lessons in London and then I lapsed after I got married, mortgage blah, blah.

I've been in loads of bands over the years and have recently just rediscovered drumming at the age of 42. I'm trying to get my chops back to where they used to be. I starting learning guitar to play nursery rhymes to my son. This is a great site.
