So I've been wanting to get a china for quite some time now, and yesterday I went over to Long and MacQuade and talked to someone about a few chinas (Sean Lang, actually) and I tested out a Sabian HHX 18" China, 20" Zen China, and the AA 19" Holy China. Overall I like the 18" china the most, but I'm not going to settle yet until I test out a few more and get more information.

I mainly play progressive rock/metal, and I don't want to have any gongy sounds. Are there any other chinas you guys could recommend? My budget is 425 (stand included).

Thanks :).

I own the 19" Holy China, and I must say it's absolutely perfect. I find though, that since it's very dry, and tends to wash out with repeated hits. I also own a 19" AAX-Treme Chinese, as sort of a counter to that. It's very defined, bright, and has one helluva punch to it. Take a look at that one and see if it fits what you're looking for!

Cheers!

Grab a zildjian 18 oriental trash china. Best china cymbal I've ever heard. Got one recently, and I don't think I'll turn back. :)

I would check out wuhan cymbals not so pricey maybe an 18' wuhan china would be nice. If you wanna spend more all I can say is think either stage or studio but pick one of the 2 . My cymbals are mixed but I'm still collecting them :)

I would try out the AAX-treme chinas or even see if you can find some meinl chinas because they sound great!
