hey
i can play basic rock beats
im a right hand drummer and its difficult to play beats that involve me playing the bass twice (1 while playing with the hi-hats and one bass without the hi-hats) i dont know any better way to explain this :P
whenever i try to play my right hand which is on the hi hats starts moving faster :P
is there any kinda trick for learning these beats or do i just have o keep on practicing?

im sorry i couldnt explain better :P thats the best i can explain :P

but heres and example of the beat i keep on messing up

listen to the beat from 1:49-1:52
thats the kinda beat i keep messing up with
any suggestions?

That's a pretty small song section (3 sec.). Hard for me to catch exactly what is being played.
It sounds like you are having a basic independence problem. My advice is always:

Slow it down
Break it down

Start out slow. No, I mean S - L - O - W. At some tempo you will be able to play it. Once it "clicks" for you, increasing the tempo gradually is fairly easy.
Break it down into just two part to begin - maybe just the bass and hi hat. Once you can do those parts, then add in another hand or foot, depending on the groove. Finally add the remaining limb.
. You'll never know if you like it until you pull down your pants and take a slide on the ice.

learn how to count, too. It'll help immensely. FDL has a good section about counting basic beat values. check it out.

The best thing to do when learning ANY pattern that is difficult is to slow it down and gradually increase the tempo. I agree with pearlvx96 too

Nobody here has yet tackled the essential thing your body needs to learn to do this:

And yes to to the above you need to start slow AND count.

Try practicing to the intro of "Mellow Yellow" by a 60s artist called sullivan.

Tht should get you started with your HH sizzle. It's a combination of lifting your HH fot hitting the HH with a stick and then closing the HH again. It took me at least 3 days to learn it and then apply it to a song: American pie.

your brain wants your right hand and right foot to do the same thing. you need to slow down, count the beat out loud and learn to isolate the hits

the one thing ive noticed from reading these threads is that people think theres some miracle tip thats going to make them play how they want in an instant. everyone has to work these things out slowly

Slow it down and count it out. It will help a lot. That's what I usually do when I run into a beat I'm having trouble with.
