So, I finally decided I hated my Yamaha electric drums, and decided to sell them and search for a decent beginner acoustic set. I have an old hand me down acoustic set but it is no longer playable.
After much searching I landed on the Tama Rockstar 5 Piece Shell pack. Here is a link to the set:

Now, this site did not have the color I wanted, Brushed Burgundy Metallic. The only place I could find that color was Guitar center, but their price was $499, compared to $329, so I used their "price match" guarantee and got the set for $300 after tax with my coupon!
Seems like a decent set so far, and I like them 100% better than my electric set, now I just need to get some new cymbals! Any suggestions?

Gratz on the new kit!
What is your budget for cymbals? Go to a store and try out some in your price range.

Pay more for cymbals than you want. Trust me, it's worth it. Sabian XS20s, AAX, HHX, HH, and AA are all good. The XS20s aren't as good as the rest I listed, but for a first set they are okay. Zildjian K, K custom, A, and A custom are all good from them. I don't know much about Paiste and Meinl so I'll let someone else talk about those. A real interesting thing you can look at if you can't afford those are the Sabian SR2 line. They are actually recycled cymbals. Basically Sabian will take the aformentioned cymbal lines and when people turn them back in for whatever reason, they melt them down and make new cymbals with them. The only issue with them is you never know what you'll get. You purchase these only by weight and size so who knows the bow shape, bell size, or hammering layout you will get. What you will be assured of is you will be getting a nice set of cymbals. I have a few of them and I use them as my go-tos. I remember going to PASIC and picking up one of the SR2s they had there and matching it to an HHX crash. I was pretty much blown away that I could possibly get an HHX for the price of a B8.
