It seems like Direct drive pedals are becoming all the rage, and if your company isnt making an ultra-expensive DD pedal, well than you just cant compete in todays hardcore, technological drumming industry. Some companies like TAMA are still making chain driven pedals like the SPEED COBRA, but is the age of good ol' fashions chain kickers dead? What would you play? What would you recommend to someone on the fence? And perhaps the biggest question, whats better AXIS or TRICK?lololololol

Chain or Direct Drive?

I play chain drive, and always have. I've tried out a few direct drive pedals (Axis, Demons) and they just felt... I don't know, too sensitive? I'm used to having some power behind my pedals, and really being able to stomp on them in the right places, but the direct drives don't do it for me. That being said, damn, are they ever fast. As for Trick or Axis, I really couldn't say as I don't know enough about either companies to render judgement.
Cheers!

I own a Demon drive and can say that IMO whatever your first impression was just means that you weren't able to spend enough time with it

I use chain drive pedals, I have no problem hitting speeds well over 200.
Direct drive is just another option, and now-a-days it just so happens to be a very popular one.

. It has so many different possibilities and takes a long time to go through them, testing it in a store means nothing to me, it took me months of fine tweaking to find what works for me with the Demon drive. My pedal actually sounds like it is setup very similar to what you like. Mine has a ton of power, can blaze doubles anytime with ease and then slow it right down and just groove with it. I would recommend the demon to anyone providing they have patience enough to run it through all of it's setting possibilities. Good luck man
Very true, and I hadn't really considered that. I feel I just don't need all those extra features to justify spending the extra cash. But then again, that's not the issue here. Fair enough

I personally use chains more often, but i have used direct drives, specifically the demon drive pedals and i think theyre pretty sweet. I dont really feel too much of a loss of power, but i noticed that they are SUPER responsive. Whatever i wanted my feet to do, the pedals followed right along and made me feel a lot more accurate.
Whats the big deal??

Both are good, if you want an immediate hit in the head when you play, go with direct drive cause whatever you do with the pedal, it will happen with the batter instantaneously. Chain drives are good too, but only have a split-second delay, and in my opinion a little more non-direct (Obviously) it takes a little more effort to press down on it.
