Music is supposed to be for your ears anyway. Close your eyes and listen to this...

We all wish we had half of that talent.

You mean the time to practice,.

You have to find a way to make time to practice.

My first couple of years after I got out of the service, I drove a oil truck. 60, 70, and even 80 hour weeks were common in the winter.

I was fortunate enough to find a place where I could practice almost any time I wanted to, but the point is that I practiced whether I was tired or not. Even a hour is better than nothing.

I have sleep disorder (apnea) and today my brain was fried. I tried some4 hand coordination exercises, it was good for the first 10 minutes then my brain shut down. I kept trying that and double stroke rolls beats and fills for the next two ours and almost nothing was getting in.I decided to move to pillow practice I went from 140 bpm to 160 bpm but didn't have time to come back down, lets say for 155 bpm and stay there for 40% of the time of the exercise, but I guess all that is better than nothing. Also for the first time I noticed that my left hand was getting a workout on the pillow. I used my reflection to make sure it was all wrists and practiced in all 3 grips. Still for 2 1/2hours it wasn't that much, but I did it anyways. I also noticed that I have trouble concentrating for a long period of time because of so much computing and probably the faulty sleep.

We are not robots, no one is at their best 100% of the time.
Somedays I sit at the drums and everything is smooth, flowing like magic, then I think 'Wow, I'm a drum-god'!
The next time its a struggle just to play the simplest things, thats when I curse myself 'Wow, I suck'!
On the good days is when I try to push the bounds of my abilities.
On the bad days I stay in the comfort zone and reinforce my muscle memory.
Not much we can do about it.
Caution: The above rant has been disjected with sarcasm.
