I've been noticing this a lot lately, and I'm kinda curious to hear from fellow drummers. Do you prefer playing with shoes on or playing barefoot? I personally play with shoes on because I don't like the feeling of my toes spreading out, and I recently pulled a muscle in the bottom of my foot playing barefoot (I honestly juts do not even know). Does it matter either way to you? Just curious on your input.

I played with shoes for a long time, then I started to get cramps, so I switched to barefoot for a long time, and I just now decided to try shoes again. . . I'm bipolar when it comes to that. lol

I've never played barefoot, but I play in socks pretty frequently. Unfortunately, when I play anywhere outside of my own home, I'm always a little thrown off by the feel of my shoes on the pedals, so I've started wearing shoes even at home when I play.

I've switched between socks and shoes a lot too. Most of the time I use shoes because I don't want to take them off when I'm not at home.

I switch bet ween ALL tree but to be honest there's NOTHING like feeling of your REAL feet touching the pedal. I also used a shoe number UNDER my actual size for MANY years, SO NOW I avoid it like the plague as much as I can. I only use shoes that actually have space for my toes as much as I can. Add to that the fact that ALL my limbs are pretty long compared to my actual trunk and I WANT to avoid raising my knees as much as I can.

Semi Off topic question. Have you guys seen the toes of a Native American Indian?

Those guys can move them as if they were finger tips.

Can't stand shoes at all - there's no sensitivity or 'feel' with them on. I used to play barefoot for the longest time, but my feet would stick to the pedals. Simple enough, I switched to socks and have played that way ever since.

I've never played in socks, but I agree with you on the shoes, Smurf. Shoes just don't seem to have any feel. I may try socks tonight if I get the chance to practice.
