drummer's elbow

I've developed a case of "drummer's elbow" recently. There's no real discomfort, just a little bit of pain, not even so much when I'm drumming, but after I finish playing, or when I'm doing normal things at work, the gym, etc. I do a lot of weightlifting so I've become quite accustomed to frequent muscle, general body soreness. I was wondering if anyone who has experienced any pain from drumming (wrists, shoulders, elbows)... is it better in the long-term to use cold treatment or hot treatment? There isn't any swelling, so I'm inclined to think that hot treatment may be the way to go. Let me know what you think. Thanks a lot.

It taught me everything I needed to know about those type of injuries. Including NOT computer related ones.
And if I'm wrong, I found this:

I've been wearing a heating pad around my elbow for about an hour a day while watching TV or whatever, and I apply an ice pack when I'm done drumming. I'm not feeling any real pain yet, just slight discomfort, but I'm concerned I might end up with some long-term damage.

RSI is a pain in the butt. My median nerve got pinched in the elbows (majorly right) and now my hand hurts too. Did you read the links I posted here. I even created a thread about it.

Tennis elbow, yes, but I've never heard of drummers elbow and I've talked to a lot of drummers over the years.

It's kinda hard to understand what you say sometimes. Had to reread twice. If you go to drummershealth.com you'll see the medical term. I think is basically the same thing as tennis and I hvae the symptoms and I don't play any tennis.

I can see pain coming from playing tennis, but, if you are getting pain in your elbow from drumming, there is something wrong with your technique.

Oh thanks!! Well I can think of two things:
1: Sticks. I've been trying new sticks. 5bN and ROCKN from Vic firth. They're both thinner than my previous sticks but the ROCKN is the longest.
2: ekit. The distances are smaller, rebound might not be as good, cymbals, specially hihat might be impacting my elbow since they're plastic. Notice that my Hihat is now at a steep angle instead of horizontal.
The 5BN is too thin for me but I've been using it for a couple of weeks for my ekit since is shorter. My original 5B ddrum sticks are the thickets but are as short is the 5BN. I switched to those today.
I noticed you don't move your elbows in your videos.

Your arms move going from drum to drum, or drum to cymbal, but when you are on a given drum, it should be all in the wrists and fingers.

You, Andy and Poco are invaluable in this forum. I changed my technique today and it worked wonders. I was pulling my stick up instead of bouncing exclusively down not only my speed increased 30 bpm effortlessly ( up to 157 bpm) but I didn't feel any pain after the 2 hours I spent drumming. The only pain was from fighting the old habit of tensing my arms, but it's much much less.
Thanks to Andy for the Dom Famularo videos, even though he makes strange jokes it's really good. The secret it's in dribbling the stick down and catching it when it bounces back up. Google Dom Famularo Free stroke.
