Some really bad double bass playing. Can't just mess with them for a hour every week or so.

The Lesson: Don't believe everything you hear from somebody, especially when their conduct disproves it.

OH YEAH! Forgot to mention that! Everything he said (except for the stealing them from your neighbors part) is true.

I haven't messed with it but once because, to be honest, I'm in a relationship that's ending after almost 20 years and I'm making a move to Charlotte, NC as soon as I get down there and buy a house.
I've practiced maybe 3 times in the last month, and have too much going on to mess with the other things.
Once everything gets settled, then I can start the process of making some covers.

Just some more screwing around, with a slightly different set-up.

I know it happened to me and guitar. But a while, not a loooong while.
I have always been hard on myself. I have a low tolerance for sloppy playing, which I'm doing more of.
Can't do much about it as I get older, but, I don't have to like it.

I meant, maybe thinking about playing sloppy is hindering your playing because it's distracting you from playing? The more you play the more you think about playing sloppy, the sloppier you play?
Maybe?

I understand what you are saying, and if I were younger, I'd have to consider it.
The stone cold truth is that it's just my body showing it's age. I have to take pills for my heart, it's nothing serious, but they will make me a little tired. Arthritis in my left wrist and elbow doesn't help.
My brain thinks my body is as fast as it was 20 years ago and my body is saying no it isn't.
I'm not complaining about it, I don't like it, but I accept it as a fact. It will happen to all of us.
My friend has bad arthritis and can barely play. I can still play at a fairly high level, albeit with more mistakes than I care to make, but I can still play and get around the set. If I were to slow down from a hundred MPH to 90 MPH, I wouldn't make the dumb mistakes that I do, but, as you have probably noticed, I'm a stubborn b******, so I try to hit 110 MPH and deal with the mistakes.
If I had to stop tomorrow, I could look back and see that I had a ball, I got to play drums for a living and not all that many drummers get to say that.
