I was wondering where everyone seats with these two fantastic drummers?

I have been listening to Rush nonstop for the past 2 years. I recently rediscovered ELP through their record Trilogy. Before I knew I was keeping the beat with my toe, WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT. Peart never did that to me, I always had to think.
From a drummer's perspective (NOT songwriter or anything else), purely drummer. Which one do you prefer?

Personally I think Carl has his Jazz down much more than Neil does.
As far as I've read Jazz WAS Carl's beginnings. He even uses traditional grip.

Given, tastes and opinions change based on the information each individual may have and how much they've listened to both drummers.

Edit:

Since Carl Palmer is "less famous" I decided to post a little of his work here:

Notice his entire kit is made out of Steel:

Just and addendum. The very first electronic drum prototype triggers were tested by Carl Palmer, it took much iteration before he finally could play them without breaking them.

Another interesting note is that Jimmy Hendrix was to join Emerson Lake and Palmer as the 4th member before he died.

Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Louis Bellson, Ed Shaughnessy, Max Roach, and a few others.

Peart and Palmer would be further on down the list.

At the time, Carl Palmer was the most creative drummer I listened to, and so I voted him. I guess it's a matter of age. Unfortunately someone who would discover ELP "today" would not be very impressed IMHO.

Peart all the way. If you don't like Neil Peart, then you don't like complex tasteful drumming.

The Lesson: Don't believe everything you hear from somebody, especially when their conduct disproves it.

Yes, Neil has a nice tone. Particularly, for tasteful drumming alone I prefer Nick Mason.

I don't like Peart much; I'm just not fond of his work for some odd reason. That being said, I most certainly do enjoy complex tasteful drumming ;)

On topic, I don't know who Carl Palmer is :/

Use Youtube and RDIO. Listen to Emerson Lake and Palmer and/or Asia. (Asia is a supergroup with members of Yes and ELP and King Crimson)

Neil isn't particularly complex. Nor do I find him particularly tasteful

So out of those two, Palmer every day
Cry havoc and let loose the dogs of law
On bones of democracy they yearn to gnaw
Every morsel of fact washed away in the flood
Of innocent tears and innocent blood

Peart's too mechanical for me honestly. He almost sounds like a Robot. Palmer is ok, but I always thought some of the stuff he played was too out there.

Voted for Peart, but resently downloaded a drumscore for Lucky Man. So, Palmer is on my soon to learn list.
Caution: The above rant has been disjected with sarcasm.

Try their cover of Hoedown. Try their whole cover of Fanfarre for the Common man.

Trilogy is interesting, too. I used it as a practice/warmup song.

Thank you for the suggestions and videos, but Lucky Man is challenging enough at my present level.

Crap, I don't have access to the original LP anymore but I remember that now that you mentioned. That's how I listened (and air drummed) to it the first time
