I'm looking for a book to help me teach
with a more straight on notation, to
help beginners with their ''groove'' reading.

Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer

. You'll never know if you like it until you pull down your pants and take a slide on the ice.

Along with Syncopation FTMD.... that Poco recommended I also have

STICK CONTROL for the SNARE DRUMMER by GEORGE LAWRENCE STONE

BUDDY RICH'S MODERN INTERPRETATION of SNARE DRUM RUDIMENTS

SAVAGE RUDIMENTAL WORKSHOP WORKSHOP by MATT SAVAGE

GROOVE ESSENTIALS THE PLAY ALONG with TOMMY IGOE by VIC FIRTH

THOMAS LANG CREATIVE COORDINATION & ADVANCED FOOT TECHNIQUE

DOUBLE BASS DRUMMING by JOE FRANCO

I found these to be my favorites out of many others I bought over the years... they all pretty much go from beginner to advanced and cover everything from reading music to proper technique to just about everything else... BUT!!!!

If you are going to spend the money on these books which are pretty pricey.... I would just make the investment in Drumlessons.com's store on that wicked cool drum system thingy... I would love to invest in it... it seems to cover EVERYTHING....I'm pretty sure if you bought that you wouldn't need to buy anything additional which you WILL end up doing... so consider it
DRUGS ARE BAD MMMMMKAYYY!!!!

While I already have some of the titles mentionned,
I found them to be more complementary to the book
I was looking for.

I ordered this one :

Eight-Notes Rock and Beyond
by Glenn Ceglia and Dom Famularo

You can view some of the content on amazon.

The book looks good but I wouldn't consider it a beginner's book. IMO this book starts too far along for a beginner.
Maybe "groove" reading is the key to your choice. With the title "Eighth-Note Rock and Beyond", it implies you already can read and groove the basics. Begin with quarter notes and don't worry about feet, hi hat, accents, etc.
Again, it is probably just my misunderstanding as to what you are looking for and the level of the students who will use it.

I learned on Realistic Rock by Carmine Appice. In my opinion that would be the best book to use for learning "groove reading"...

Other then our products of course :)
