Although I feel that the flat-foot gives me less control over the volume and the speed of the bass. I still prefer it to heel up or down, I often get really confused. I have two left feet…. but its all about the feel right??

Most of the time I'm using the heel up method but for quick doubles I use the slide technique. Buuuut saying that, I'm not brilliant at sliding and the control I'm getting isn't perfect by any means. I'm thinking about starting to learn the heel toe method because I think it offers a wider range of uses, and it's always good to have a new technique in the toolkit as it were, but I'll keep at perfecting the slide technique at the same time.

I'm just getting hang of heel-toe technique. But sometimes when I have to play with a pedal that lacks spring tension I'd like for heel-toe, I switch to the flat foot

When I play heel down, my foot is about two-thirds down the footboard. When I play heel up, the heel only comes up a little. I like to switch between the felt and the nylon side of my beaters too.

I mainly use Heel Up, but when i do my double strokes, i move into a mixture of heel-toe and the slide, so its more like a toe slide, actually.

When I jam, I use heel-toe but no heel, so it's more like a toe jam. :lol:

Toe jam. Sounds more revolting than it is, folks! :P

Haven't settled on one but the slide comes more comfortable on both feet.

Edit: Ditched out the slide. Now using,

Heel up
Heel Down
Flat Foot-> building on it.
Heel-Toe-> building on it.

4 out of 6, not bad.

I'm just starting out so I find myself switching between heel up & heel down frequently. I'll even switch within the same song for different patterns depending on how my legs & calves feel at the time. For fast doubles I seem to do a cross between heel-toe and slide (I haven't actually taken the time to learn proper heel-toe yet).

I mainly use heel up and heel toe. Jared is the person whom I first learnt the technique from, using his videos. I can do it at a reasonably speedy tempo. I'm working on slide, I'm getting better slowly, and my flat foot is coming along too. So I'd say those are the three which I use.

Just playing quick doubles with the hands and feet. Just gets my heart pounding haha!

I've always played heel-up, though I recently switched from sliding to heel-toe. I felt like sliding was a little too dependent on the footwear and the settings of the pedal over the year or so I worked with it, so I wanted a more universal motion for quick doubles. It's still a work in progress, though the results already seem to be paying off.

I was too quick to learn heel-toe but to master it? Give me couple of years :)

I'm still practicing heel/toe, but have recently taken an interest in flat foot.

I've been working on flat foot for the past week and I'm liking it so far. I still practice H/T, though. Never could get the hang of slide and just don't understand swivel. LOL.
