What do you guys prefer? I like my throne about as high as I can get it so I kinda' hover over my kit. It feels like I have a lot more control, and it takes a lot of stress off my legs. But I see a lot of people who sit really low at a kit, and a lot of people can even drum comfortable in steel folding chairs. I've tried this, and I didn't like it AT ALL. So I wanna know how high some of you guys sit.

I keep my throne just high enough that my heels can touch the ground but so it's still comfortable to lift both legs up.

I think throne height is related to the style in which one plays the bass/hi-hit pedals. I'm a heel/toe guy.

Music is just a theory, with some gaps.

I sit so my hips are slightly higher than my knees when my feet are on the pedals.

I sit so that the ball of foot can rest on the pedal when my leg is roughly at a 45 degree angle. That way when i'm playing I don't have to lift my very high. I find it helps keep my leg from tiring as quickly, but that's just me.

I'm high enough so that when the balls of my feet are on the pedals, my heels are slightly raised. This way Theres less of an effort to play heels up, because my heels are naturally up, and it takes pressure off my hips

I made a bit of a switch from sitting quite low to fairly high recently. My legs are at a slightly angle downward when just the balls of my feet rest on the pedals holding the rest of my foot in line with them.... if that makes any sense

I like to sit at a position where my legs are slightly lower than where the throne is, and I sit at the back of the throne so to say (i schooch back as far as I can w/o falling off) that way I can do sum good double bass with ease. :)

Mine is a little high, my legs are slanted downward slightly. I used to have it so they were a right angle, maybe even a little lower, but I watched Jared's video about how to set up your drumset and decided to try it higher and I liked it a lot better. Not only are my pedals more comfortable, but I can reach my toms and cymbals better.

I like to sit at a height where my snare is about my hip level. Don't like reaching down to hit my snare <_<

...but your snare can be adjusted up and down as well, so that doesn't require any particular throne height. :P

I have my toms set pretty flat and my snare and floor tom about dead even with each other. As far as throne height, I have it set so I can easily access everything without having to reach super high for the cymbals, or slouching down to hit stuff. It's very important to keep your back straight when you're playing. Especially if you play ALOT as that will help to prevent back aches. But you'll probably get those anyways from constantly loading gear in and out, in and out, in and out. Story of my life...

I got my throne positioning from Brooks Wackerman. I like my snare drum to be quite low, and me pretty high up. It makes rim shots really easy and just feels natural. It also lets me keep my hi-hats really high, so my wrists are nice and loose from each other when I'm playing. I'm a pretty big guy, so sitting up as high as I do makes my drum kit look small, but that's just how I've always been comfortable.

Hey, guys. I was wondering if this problem I have could be throne height. When I double bass, I think I have a sliding problem. My feet would slide to the bottom of the pedals, and my lower body slide to the way back of the drum throne. I decided to try the best of both worlds, in terms of remedies. I put some grip tape for steps on the top of my pedals, and I grabbed a lower throne (folding chair). Well, my feet don't slide nearly as much as they did, which is good, but my lower body still likes to slide back. 3 seconds into my double bassing, I'm literally pushing my back into the chair. Could I need a better throne height, or do I need to adjust the way I'm playing on the pedals. I can't seem to figure out why this happens, and the sooner I do, the sooner I can get back to steadier, better sounding DB. LOL It seems to be a problem only with DB. If I play with one foot, no matter how fast, I'm leaning in, and not sliding at all, which I think is good. PLZ help. TY.

I would, but my throne's height adjuster is broken... :( Only flaw in an otherwise perfect plan!

It has a lot to do with what you're playing and what's comfortable for you.

I sit with my legs a little less than a 45 degree angle (I suck at math and fractions)
I like to sit somewhat high at my kit because a lot of the music I play dictates needing to move
around the kit quickly. Sitting up higher makes that easier.

I sit my throne up high, my toms and cymbals low. Not to the point I sit hunched over, but just enough that I don't need to bend forward or rotate to reach anything on my kit.
