So I'm thinking of getting a new set of hi- hats. I'm a big fan of the Sabian AXX range and have been looking at picking up some 14" stage hats of ebay for a fairly reasonable price. Has anyone got or had a pair that could shed any light on how they function? In my band I do a lot of open and closing the hats and really want a fast and crisp sound. If I wasn't going to go with Sabian, I'd have a look at the Zildjian A Custom range although they're a little harder to come by second hand (in fact my favourite cymbal in my set is the 17" Crash on the right side of my kit) but I haven't heard any of that range on the hats. Anyone got any suggestions?

Another Bombay Bicycle Club cover. I actually did this one back in the summer but it got copyright blocked worldwide and I've only just had the chance to reupload it. I deleted the original video off my computer to save space so I had to download it from youtube which lost a bit of quality but it's still a goodun.

Finally gotten around to recording another drum cover. This time its the This Town Needs Guns one I was going on about before, took me a while to get the fill sections down for this and the timing is all over the place. Really fun to groove to though.

Let me know what you think :D

I whipped together a quick Tokyo Police Club video. It's the first chance I've had to record my kit properly (with mics) so I used the recorderman set up with one overhead, one over the shoulder and then a Blue snowball mic on the kick. Mixed it all together in garageband and although I think my snare sounds whaff since I put a new Evans head on it, I think the overall sound is pretty good for 3 mics!

Enjoy :)

Circa Survive in Fear and Faith

Not absolutely perfect but for some reason I found this song ridiculously hard to get spot on.

Did a Minus the Bear cover this time around. They've been one of my favourite bands for a long time now and this was so much fun to groove to, it makes me feel cool just playing it!

Hope you all enjoy it :)

Foals - Black Gold.

This was another song that took me a much longer time to do than I thought it would. The kick drum in the second half of the song gets really intricate and I had to really push my bass drum skills to keep up with those semi quaver kicks. Well, hope you enjoy...

So apparently my Foals cover has been blocked worldwide thanks to WMG. Here's another Tubelord one instead, really fun to play and it took me a little while to get my head around that ride pattern. enjoy.

I have 2 more videos to send your way. I'm not sure if these are getting watched, but i'll put them here all the same. I suppose it is a member show off area after all.

the first one is Meet Me In St Louis, an incredible math band from the UK. They've split up now but they are my favourite band of al time. This song was realy tricky to play but I think I've got it pretty much down now.

The second is a band called Dog is Dead. A friend linkd me to the video to this song and I really liked it so I did my own cover of it. Hope you enjoy..

I am watching them all, I'm subscribed to you on Youtube and I watch all of my 287 subscription's videos every day. ;) I need to stop subscribing to so many people or I wont have time to watch them all :o

I don't comment much because I can never think of anything good to say other than 'good drumming' or something, and that gets kinda old saying it over and over again.

Ah great, thanks for watching them! I'm the same with youtube subscriptions and finding the time to watch them - too many interests I put it down to!
Well, if you're subscribed on Youtube then you'll probably have seen this one but I think it's one of my favourites so far. The ending just blows my head off every time I hear it on headphones so I wanted to try and do it some justice behind the kit and with the glock.

A hoy hoy drummers. I've done another few covers in the last weeks and thought I'd share them along. I recently got some Pro Mark sticks and I think I'm sold on them. I really like the weight and feel of them. And they feel sturdy like they will last a bit longer than the Vater sticks I last had. I swear those break all the time. Also I exchanged my hi hat felts to rubber washers which I think have made a pretty noticeable difference in the cleanest 'chick' sound from closing them. Especially with my new Sabian fast hats - so stoked to finally get a pair!

What kinda sticks are you guys using?

peace.

Biffy Clyro - Wave Upon Wave Upon Wave.

Such a rad song, I love playing this one, it's go the right amount of complex rhythms, tight verses and huge choruses.
