The first stuff I learned about drumming was through this website. Theory, first beats, how to hold the sticks properly...man...the difference those videos made in my playing as I started drumming!!
Almost 2 and half years later, it's not only in drumming that these guys made a big difference in my life. This last year of my life was crap. RRM was crucial in giving me some much needed motivation for getting through with my lackluster year. I don't even know where and how to start in showing my appreciation for the entire crew.
I can only say that a thank you will never be enough.

Last year I came across FDL on youtube and the way the lessons are presented makes you feel like you can totally learn on your own with the help of the videos and also the challenge and fun of learning new stuff.
So I bought a Yamaha Dtxpress off of Craigslist for my 41st birthday and started learning with Mike Michalkows lesson on beginner beats. Man I felt like a retard with a couple of chop sticks for a while but this past year has been fun learning and now that I know it is something I will stick with I plan on getting a nicer kit.
So yes, the free stuff is really great for bringing new people into the world of drums and then the pay stuff is great to help bring you to the next level, I am working my way through the rock drumming system now (I think thats what its called) and plan on getting the Mike Michalkow one next.
Again well done.

What can I say about Jared he is a 'gem.' I have started playing drums 3-4 months back and you know what i have watched and learnt almost half of the lessons on the website freedrumlessons.com....I was amazed on myself that howcome i who have never played Acoustic Drums before in my life, (although i have played electric drums and other Asian/'Pakistani' instruments) can do that much better in such a short span of time?? Well u know guys what the answer is?? It only because of Mr. Jared Falk "the man". He taught everything so conveniently that I had no problem understanding.
Cheers and please keep on doing the good work that you are doing for the Drumming World and of course for the rest of the world as well
Take Care and happy drumming

Cant believe I've never seen this thread before.
Great OP and have to agree all the crew should take credit for a fantastic site but for me it was the way Jared explained things that made me realise "hey, maybe I can do this" I'm still trying hard and if one day I can become half as competant as Jared and all the other crew or members who are on here I'l be a happy welshman
Keep up the great work guys
And on the same note a big shout out to the forum members too, the over-all feedback, banter and friendliness here makes it a pleasure to be a user.

But I didn't know anyone who played drums, and ho no real comparison for my technique.
I watched the first freedrumlessons videos, and saw severe flaws in what I was doing.
I'm no wizard with drum technique, but if not for Jared, I would probably be the worst
drummer imaginable.
